An estimate is your best guess — the final bill can be more or less once the work is done. A quotation is a fixed price the customer can accept. For repairs where you can't see everything up front, give an estimate; for a defined job, a quotation.
Tips for an estimate
- Name the work and the site — "Bathroom renovation, House 12, Johar Town".
- List material and labour separately.
- Say clearly that it's an estimate and the final bill may differ.
- Give a valid-until date — prices change.
